Our Projects

Outreach & community Work & Events

Staff and volunteers deliver outreach activity sessions in various community settings and also attend numerous community events. This contributes to the organisation’s aim of raising mental health awareness and reducing stigma.

The Octopus Foundation Outreach & Community Work & Events

We have delivered activity sessions in several places of worship and community hubs. The Octopus Foundation is pleased to attend the annual Sticks and Stones Festival community wellbeing event led by The Paramount Foundation. We are always pleased to accept invitations to open days or awareness raising events. We have recently held events run by wHoo Cares and The French Hospital Almshouses, alongside their annual celebration at Rochester Cathedral. We always attend the Hoo Church craft fairs, one in the summer and again at Christmas. We are always made to feel so welcome and aside from seeing some regular faces, also look forward to the tea and cake!

We have formed strong links with Gillingham Salvation Army. We held a stall at their Christmas Fair and supported their Christmas Toy and Easter Eggs appeals. We also have an ongoing collection to support their hygiene bank.

The Foundation also supports the development of other local Shed Projects, with advice around health and safety and funding, and highlighting the benefits of shed projects for wellbeing.
